Political Poop '08
US Weekly is reporting that Sarah Palin had a tanning bed put into the governor’s mansion in Alaska.“She did. She paid for it with her own money,” Roger Wetherell, chief communications officer of Alaska’s Department of Transportation and Public Facilities told Us.
“It was done shortly after she took office [in early 2007] and moved into the mansion,” Wetherell told the Narco News. Source
I suppose they’re making a big deal about it because she discouraged the use of tanning beds in a public service announcement, saying it contributed to cancer. And as we all know her running mate Senator John McCain has skin cancer.
I don’t see the big deal. I mean, I don’t expect anyone…especially not a politician to practice what they preach.
More Poop…
Senator Obama’s campaign will not comment on the “Obama Waffles” that were sold at a conservative political forum this past Saturday (September 13, 2008) in DC.Mark Whitlock and Bob DeMoss, two writers from Franklin, Tenn, rented a booth to sell their "Obama Waffles" waffle mix that came in a box depicting the Democratic presidential candidate as a racial stereotype on its front and wearing Arab-like headdress on its top flap, reports the Associated Press.
The product was meant as political satire, said Mark Whitlock and Bob DeMoss, who created the mix and sold it for $10 a box at the Values Voter Summit sponsored by the lobbying arm of the Family Research Council.
Obama is portrayed with bulging eyes and big lips as he stares at a plate of waffles and smiles broadly.
On the back of the box, Obama is depicted in stereotypical Mexican dress, including a sombrero, above a recipe for "Open Border Fiesta Waffles" that says it can serve "4 or more illegal aliens." The recipe includes a tip: "While waiting for these zesty treats to invade your home, why not learn a foreign language?"
Values Voter Summit organizers cut off sales of Obama Waffles boxes on Saturday, saying they had not realized the boxes displayed "offensive material." The summit and the exhibit hall where the boxes were sold had been open since Thursday afternoon. Source
It’s bad enough they have to sully the name of Obama but to sully the image of waffles is just taking it too damn far!
