60. Persia-Gun Possession
More Details...
Rapper Persia, nee Rachel Murecieosn, known for her appearance on “The White Rapper Show”, has been convicted of a gun possession charge and faces up to 3 ½ years in prison.
She claims the reason why she had the gun was because of "an extreme case of domestic violence."
Here’s what she had to say in a MySpace blog:
"I was in a very abusive relationship and felt like I couldn't leave or else my family would be harmed. It became too much and I had to go," Persia wrote. "I was stalked and threatened for months, as was my family -- my mom had a heart attack due to this man. I went into hiding, but honestly who can live like that? Someone bought a gun, so that I could get from my front door to my car without being attacked or even killed."
"The guy was a police informant, so I felt helpless," the rapper explained. "I couldn't call the cops because he would get right out and come looking for me. I have seen women die with orders of protection in their hands. This man poured gasoline beside my mom's house and told me he would kill the only thing I loved. What would you do?"
She also feels her cousel didn’t help and is seeking new counsel. She wants her fans to write the Ulster County District Attorney in hopes that he may reconsider her sentence. The address is: D. Holley Carnright, District Attorney, c/o Ulster County Courthouse, 275 Wall Street, Kingston, NY 12401.
