Black Scholar Arrested Breaking into his own Home

Henry Louis Gates Jr. was arrested at his own home for burglary. Gates is one of the most famous black scholars in America and is a director at Harvard University.
He ws trying to force open the lock on the front dor of his home in Cambridge when police were called in by a neighbor saying she saw a man, “wedging his shoulder into the front door as to pry the door open.”
Gates refused to identify himself when ordered to do so by police then he called the officer racist and said, “This is what happens to black men in America.” According to the report they tried to calm him down and he responded with “You don’t know who you’re messing with.”
He was arrested for disorderly conduced and released later the same da on his own recognizance.
“We do not believe that this arrest would have happened if professor Gates was white,” Allen Counter, one of Gate’s colleagues said. “It really has been very unsettling for African-Americans throughout Harvard and throughout Cambridge that this happened.” Counter said he spoke to Gates, who told him police continued to question him after he showed them his license and Harvard identification. “They did not believe him when he said that he was in his own home,” Counter said. “He was totally mistreated in this incident.” Source
I have nothing to say about this…I’ll let my imaginary son Jojo handle this one.
