13. Michael’s financials come to light.
More Details…
Although Mike’s assets are estimated at a worth of $1.3 billion, most of that is tied up in his partial ownership of The Beatles’ back catalogue and he refused to sell that. That left him with a debt of about $300 million that he was planning to pay off with the upcoming tour.
Asource told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "He signed up for the live comeback about 18 months ago and told lenders he could make $300 million. But the pressure of knowing what it would take to fulfill his promise could have helped kill him." Source
I hope that after liquidation of his remaining assets to pay the debts that his children are left with a nice nest egg.
14. Investigators entered his home to look for clues.
More Details…
LAPD detectives went to the home Michael was renting to "look for medications or talk to witnesses" along with the coroners office.Additional autopsies have also been ordered. The coroner added, "It's nothing unusual. Remember, the whole purpose is to determine the cause of death." Source
For the sake of closure I hope the cause of death is found because there was nothing natural about him passing away.
15. Mike’s tour rehearsals will probably be released on DVD.
More Details… AEG Live, the promoters of his tour recorded enough rehearsal material to be able to realease a live CD/DVD combo. His final rehearsal at the Staples Center the night before his death was recorded with a high-def camera.
"He was trying, and succeeding, in structuring the biggest, most spectacular live production ever seen," Johnny Caswell, co-owner of CenterStaging, told USA Today. The company was helping him polish his show from late March to early June before shifting rehearsals to larger venues.
“By the time he left my facility, he had graduated through several studios and was on a soundstage taking up 10,000 square feet," Caswell continued. "They moved to The Forum, outgrew that and needed the height at Staples. The show was getting so damn big, they couldn't finish it in time. That's why they had to delay."
Source From the looks of the above pics, he was planning something epic. I can’t wait to see what they put together.
16. Ticket holders will receive refund or keep stubs a souvenirs.
More Details…
Over 750,000 fans bought tickets to Michael’s sold out UK tour and they can choose to receive a refund for their ticket purchase or keep the tickets as refunds.
They paid anywhere form $82-$124 for tix and have until August 14th to redeem a refund if they choose to do so.
AEG Live hopes fans will opt to keep tix because the sum of the tix is about $90 million. Source
17. Joe Jackson cut out of Mike’s will.
I wonder why Joe gets nothing…hmmmm.
18. MJ’s children aren’t biologically his.
More Details… It’s being reported that none of Michael jackson’s three children are biologically his. Also, the older two children, Prince Michael I and Paris, birthed by his first wife Debbie Rowe, aren’t biologically hers either.
As far as Prince Michael II aka “Blanket”, the still unknown surrogate wasn’t informed of the identity of the receiving parent.
The most interesting of the news is that Michael supposedly never moved to adopt any of the three children. Source
I’m curious to see how this whole thing pans out. Mama Jackson has the kids now but if anyone wants to contest their rights to the children they may end up wards of the court. They’re the biggest victims in this whole sordid ordeal.
19. Several people commit suicide because of Michael’s death.
More details..
In the above video a reporter talks to Rev. Jesse Jackson about 7 people committing suicide because of their grief over MJ. I’ve heard that number may be as large as 12 or 13. Source / Source
These lost ones were obviously already dealing with serious mental issues before his death occurred to cause them to take their own lives. Truly sad.
20. Michael to be possibly displayed in glass coffin.
More Details…
Mike’s family is thinking about putting his body in a see through casket.
A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "The idea is causing internal stress within the family. The glass casket idea would create so much public interest it would take time to organise. People would make the pilgrimage from the other side of the world. The question that keeps coming back is, 'What would Michael have wanted?'" Source
As private and reclusive Michael was, I think he’d like to go out with a bang.
21. Michael’s doctor didn’t call for help because he didn’t know the address.
More Details… Dr. Conrad Murray says that the reason he didn’t call 911 for over 30 minutes was because he wasn’t familiar with MJ’s home. He tried to call from a home like but couldn’t get a line out because of security restrictions. Then he was going to call from his cell and realized he didn’t have the address.
Finally he found Michael’s chef who alerted security to call for an ambulance.
H’es also been criticized for the way he performed CPR on Michael because he didn’t move him out of the bed and onto the floor.
"With Michael still on the bed, he put one hand under Michael's back for support and was compressing with his other hand. He continued to check the pulse, and the pulse remained." Source
Um…I realize that we are all human and people panic but isn’t it a prerequisite of doctors to remain cool? I’m sure if he called and said, I’m at Michael Jackson’s house the operator coulda looked his addy up online. EVERYTHING is online.
And another thing. I was CPR certified…once…back in 1999. Even I know that you have to have the recipient on a flat firm surface. That’s probably how all his ribs got broken. Epic fail doctor! A man is dead!
22. Michael will visit Neverland one last time.
More Details...
Michael’s body will be viewed at his former home, the Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara, California on Friday. This will be a public viewing open to his fans. A private memorial will be held this Sunday.
Rudy Clay, the Mayor of the singer's hometown of Gary, Indiana says, "I believe that his body will lie in state in Gary, Indiana."
Clay's spokeswoman Lalola Burns tells CNN, "The Mayor had spoken with a contact of the Jackson family and expressed our interest in having that to be a part of the history of this great family (sic)."Source
This is getting more and more interesting. I’ll be in front of the TV on Friday watching it all go down.
23. Michael’s dermatologist is wanted for questioning.
“He is the dad,” says a Jackson insider. “He and Debbie signed an agreement saying they would never reveal the truth.” Source
This story is getting sicker and stranger by the moment.
24. Propofol Diprivan found at Michael’s home.
More Details…
A nurse claims Michael asked for the drug, typically used for surgical anesthesia, to treat his insomnia. She denied his request but he must have gotten it somewhere because it was found in his home.
A source said, “There is no conceivable way this drug can be properly prescribed for home use.” Source
Someone’s got some explaining to do. I was watching on the Today Show how Hollywood docs become enamored with stars and will give them whatever they ask for…especially if the price is right. So sad.
25. Quincy Jones won’t attend MJ’s funeral.
He blogged for the LA Times: “He was so shy he’d sit down and sing behind the couch with his back to me while I sat there with my hands over my eyes with the lights off.”
“I told Michael that we needed a black rock ‘n’ roll tune, a black ‘My Sharona’, and a begging tune for the album,” Jones says. “He came back with ‘Beat It’ and Rod came back with ‘The Lady in My Life.’ Rod also brought in ‘Thriller’ and Michael sang his heart out on it. At one point during the session the right speaker burst into flames, which none of us had ever seen before. How’s that for a sign?
“There will be a lot written about what came next in Michael’s life, but for me all of that is just noise.
“I promise you in 50, 75, 100 years, what will be remembered is the music. It’s no accident that almost three decades later, no matter where I go in the world, in every club and karaoke bar, like clockwork, you hear ‘Billie Jean,’ ‘Beat It,’ ‘Wanna Be Starting Something,’ ‘Rock With You’ and ‘Thriller.’” Source
I’m not a fan of funerals either…well, I’m sure most of us aren’t. And with the funeral becoming such a circus I can understand him not wanting to pay tribute to his friend in that way.
26. Michael’s funeral moved.
More Details…
Michael’s funeral was supposed to happen tomorrow at Neverland but has been moved to next Tuesday with the Staples Center as a possible venue. They’re also considering selling tickets to the event to cut back on costs for security and crowd control. The LA Times
Please just put that man in the ground and let him rest in peace. This is getting to be too much.
