Ruben Met His Wife at Wal-Mart

Ruben Studdard says that he met his wife Surata while promoting his first album at a Georgia Wal-Mart. She approached him to get an autograph, not for herself, for one of her friends.
He recalls, "I was actually not shopping at all... I was promoting my album and I had an autograph signing at Wal-Mart. And so she came to get the autograph for her best friend who was a big fan of mine.
"So she was telling me a story about her friend and she said, 'My friend loves you.' And I said, "Well what about you?"We just became friends right after that. We hung out and maybe three months after we started (to get serious)." The two married this June in his native Birmingham, Alabama. Source
That’s sweet…in a country bama sort of way. It’s like sayin, “Baby remember when I saw you buying that barrel of lard in the Piggly Wiggly? Boy you were Lookin’ fine. Whoo!” (Insert country accent at will.) BTW I’ve been in a Piggly Wiggly and not ONE of those cashiers had all their teeth. True story.
