Update: Janet is suffering from vertigo-esque migraines.
Many people thought that Janet’s mystery illness was just a case of pregnancy (lol, I just realized that makes pregnancy sound like a disease) but according to her manager she suffers from a form of migraine similar to the symptoms caused by vertigo.
“After a thorough medical evaluation, it has been confirmed that Janet’s symptoms are being caused by a rare form of migraine called vestibular migraine or migraine-associated vertigo for which she is currently receiving treatment,” read a statement released by Jackson’s camp and obtained by E! News.
“Janet wanted very much to resume her tour so as not to disappoint her fans, but she continued to suffer from vertigo and could not perform,” her manager, Kenneth Crear, said. Source
I used to get severe migraines (although any migraine is severe) when I was little and it completely incapacitated me. I couldn’t walk, or eat, or open my eyes. Light, sound, and any movement would worsen the pain and make me dizzy and nauseous. Since performing on a loud stage with thousands of people in hot costumes under hot lights where you have to run around for a few hours is the last place anyone with a migraine would want to be I totally understand Janet cancelling her tour dates. Sucks though cus this was supposed to be her big come back. It’s her first tour in 7 years.
