According to the New York Post, the gun believed to be the murder weapon, may have been owned by Jennifer’s brother Jason Hudson. He supposedly told neighbors that his weapon was stolen moths ago. Source
If true, this would be a sad, ironic twist of events.

The public as well as family and friends said good bye to the victims over a two day memorial period. On Sunday (November 2, 2008) a public service was held at Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago for Darnell Donerson, Jason Hudson, and Julian King.
Source A private funeral service was held at a church on Chicago’s South side. “She walked in the church with David (David Otunga, her fiancé),” an eyewitness tells OK!. “He was at her side the entire service, wiping her tears and holding her. Jennifer looked equally in shock and mournful throughout the service, but managed a smile when speakers shared their memories of her family.” “Jennifer looked upset but managed to keep herself together,” a friend tells OK!. The 27-year-old shared the front row with Julian’s mother, Julia, and comforted her sister as she “cried the loudest of anyone.” Despite the difficulties of saying goodbye, Jennifer, 27, and Julia, 31, experienced some uplifting moments. “Jennifer managed a smile when speakers shared their memories of her family,” adds the insider. After Jennifer spent a few moments viewing the bodies she took a seat and fellow American Idol alum, Fantasia Barrino sang “Your Grace and Mercy”. The funeral then proceeded to the cemetery via horse drawn carriage.

According to friends Jennifer begged her mom to move from Chicago’s south side to live with her in LA.
Family friend Sharita Dickey says, "Jennifer grew up on Chicago's South Side, and knew all about the violence. She was able to get out, and wanted to take her mama with her, but Darnell said no."
Hudson's second cousin, Reverend Krista Alston, adds, "Jennifer is hurting and asking why this happened. She's asking why she didn't do more to persuade Darnell to move away. It was Darnell's decision to stay here in Chicago. This was her home and her family were here." Source
Jenny it’s not you’re fault.
