The man known as “Senate Candidate no. 5” in the FBIs complaint against Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, is none other than Jesse Jackson, Jr. According to the complaint Blagojevich offered Jesse “up to $1 million” to name him as Barack’s successor in the senate.
Rod (I’ll call him this from now on since typing his name is giving me carpel tunnel) “stated he might be able to cut a deal with Senate Candidate 5 that provided Rod Blagojevich” with something “tangible up front.” Jackson said that Rod “asked me to come in and share with them my insights and thoughts about the selection process.” He wouldn’t confirm that he was Candidate No. 5, but said he was told “I am not a target of this investigation.” (Source)
