The republican party is slamming the president for taking his wife, Michelle on a “date night,” something he promised to do almost six months ago. He told her once the election was over he’d take her to see a Broadway play in NYC.
"I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished," the president said in a written statement, reports the Associated Press.
They ate at a West Village restaurant called Blue Hill, then went to the Belasco Theater to see the August Wilson play, "Joe Turner's Come and Gone."
The RNC feels that due to our current economic plight Barack shouldn’t be jet setting off to NY for " a night on the town."
"Putting on a show: Obamas wing into the city for an evening out while another iconic American company prepares for bankruptcy," the statement said.

Oh put a sock in it! Yes, he does have to be careful how his spending habits may be perceived. But he was just making good on a promise. Now if they’re flying to remote locations for brunch and an afternoon of shopping every other week, then we’ve got a problem on our hands.
