Update: Lateef O'Joye 1981-2009

The three adults involved in e murder and attempted robbery of Lateef O’Joye were arraigned last Thursday, the same day Lateef was buried.
All three men, Givonni Butler, Mark Wilson, and Donald Thomas, entered not guilty pleas. Wilson and Butler are charged with felony murder and Thomas is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and two weapons charges.
They’re being held on $750,000 bail with no cash option, while the 15-year-old believed to have actually pulled the trigger is being held at a juvenile correction facility. Source
I wonder how long before they start rolling on each other. Hopefully this trial will present the truth and all guilty parties will be punished.

Update: Lateef O'Joye 1981-2009

I have to give it to the Passaic Police Department and Prosecuters Office for working faster than I’ve ever seen before.
Three men and one teenager have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Lateef Ojoye.
LaLa was in his parked car this past Friday night (July 10, 2009) when he was approced by four men trying to rob him. He attempted to drive away and was shot once in the chest with a 9mm.
The three adults, Donald Thomas, 22, Givonni Butler, 19 and Mark Wilson, 22 are being held at Passaic County Community Jail on various charges from murder, to weapons charges. The teen, who is just 15 years old, is nt named because of his age and is being held at Essex County Juvenile Detention Center.
"The investigation, which is continuing, has revealed that the adult suspects conspired with and assisted the juvenile suspect in attempting to commit a robbery on Ojoye," a statement from the Prosecutor’s Office said.
"These arrests are important to send the message that our Police Department will not rest until violent crimes committed in the city of Passaic are solved and offenders are behind bars," Mayor Blanco said. Source
Just six days after this tragic incident Lateef has been laid to rest and his murders sit behind bars.
Nothing will bring back Lateef. But these arrests provide a sence of closure and justice being served.

Lateef O’Joye 1981-2009

Lateef O’Joye, a fellow Passaic-ian, near and dear, was fatally shot this past Friday night while in his car. He then proceeded to drive a few blocks to his family’s home where he died.
The reason for the shooting isn’t known as of right now. But with the exception of closure for his family, it doesn’t really matter. The fact is that another young black man is gone…and for what? Senseless violence.
The loss of Lateef is just another reminder of our own mortality. He was probably one of the funniest, brightest people I knew and his absence leaves a hole in many hearts. He will be truly missed by his friends and family
