Natalie Cole Does Chemo Backstage

Natalie Cole just keeps on truckin’. She was diagnosed with Hep C last year and its taken a real toll on her. She’s had to undergo chemotherapy. But instead of canceling her life, she’s taking her treatments on the road. While touring she takes her treatments backstage before her shows.
She says, “Whatever horror stories you have heard about chemo is true. It is absolutely one of the most debilitating and difficult experiences that could ever happen to a human being. Trying to perform was a real challenge. Just picture an IV hanging from a wardrobe rack in my dressing room in Japan as I tried to prepare for two shows in a night."
On the one had I have a certain kind of respect for someone who can not let a disease get them down. On the other hand I think she’s silly for risking her health like that when rest is the best medicine for her.

Natalie Cole is Still Hangin' Tough

Singer Natalie Cole, calls herself a warrior in her battle against Hep C.
“I hope nobody I know gets it. I hope they find a cure,” she said.
Despite being sick, however, Nat says that she wants to look her best at all times. “Honey, I can’t be looking sick and be looking bad. Some things are not acceptable. You got to roll with it,” she said, while laughing. (p. 44) Source
I appreciate her optimism but at some point she needs to slow down and rest. Her optimism isn’t going to take her all the way back to health. She needs to chill out too for a bit.

Natalie Cole is Released from the Hospital

Singer Natalie Cole who was recently diagnosed with hepatitis C had to be admitted to the hospital a few weeks ago due to complications from the disease. She’s out of the hospital and its been revealed that she’s also undergoing kidney dialysis that isn’t related to the hepatitis.
When it was first announced that she had hepatitis doctors said she was responding to treatment and would be fine but it seems like every few weeks or so we’re hearing about something else happening with her. I hope the docs can turn things around. Thoughts and prayers go out.

Natalie Cole Admitted to the Hospital

Natalie Cole had to be admitted to the hospital recently because the combination of her tough schedule and her Hep C treatments are getting to her. She started chemo treatment this summer and has also been promoting her new album Still Unforgettable.
“It’s debilitating,” she said. “My hair is starting to fall out [from the chemo]. I lost 15 lbs. and I looked like a scarecrow.” Cole said her “the show must go on” philosophy has helped her cope with her health issues. Source
It’s unfortunate that years after she’s cleaned her life up her body is still suffering form the negative effects of heroine and crack cocaine. Hugs not drugs kids…hugs not drugs

Natalie Cole Has to Shave Her Head

Songstress Natalie Cole has been forced to shave her head because the chemotherapy treatments she’s been receiving to combat Hepatitis C. She says, “I do chemo every week… and we are going to go for it and cut off all my hair.” Source
The loss of hair for a woman is a serious thing. But in this case, her health is way more important than some hair. I’m sure she has enough money to get some fierce wigs while she gets better. Best wishes Nat!
