Political Poop '08

I’d like to state, before I start this post, that I’ve been posting mostly about Barack and Hilary. It’s not that I don’t want to post about the republican side of the race…it’s just that…well, McCain is so BORING. I go online every day and look for interesting things to write about him and find myself nodding off and face planting into my keyboard. In all reality this is an entertainment news blog…so if I can’t even remain entertained, how do I expect to entertain you. With that said…On to the poop!
As some of you have heard a Fox News anchor recently refered to Michelle Obama as Barack’s 'baby mama'. Everyone is up in arms about it. But what everyone seems to forget is that Michelle refered to Barack as My Baby Daddy the night he won his Senate seat in ’04. Whether or not this anchor was aware of Michelle’s earlier reference is neither here nor there. The point is when Michelle used the term in public she opened herself up to have the term and all it’s forms used in reference to her.

( sidebar: I don’t even think she’s spoken out about this so she probably doesn’t care. Us black folk just like being mad. )

But back to what I was saying, do I think the anchor was right? No, it was inappropriate. She was sitting at a news desk, not on the stoop somewhere in Ghettotown, USA. But I do think there are other things to be upset about. Source

I must admit that when I first saw this I laughed. It’s a monkey. Monkeys are cute. Monkeys are funny. I like monkeys. Then I realized what this monkey was representing and my face became taut and strained and out came a big annoyed sigh. A monkey? Really? Yes, he has large ears and is brown but you mean to tell me that NO ONE in the marketing department said, “Hey guys, I don’t think this is such a good idea.”? The company that was going to sell the doll has since stopped production on Monkey Obama and issued an apology. Source (If you go to the source I suggest you read the comments…they’re…interesting)
Finally in Obamapoolooza...
J-Ho payed Barack Obama a visit last week. She didn’t actually meet with him though, but instead hung with his staff for a minute. This visit only fuels rumors that she’s going to record a song for Obama’s campaign.
“She just came in for the meeting and departed,” says the spokesman. He adds: “It was not campaign-related.”
When asked what brought her to the Hill, Lopez smiled. “I’m not ready to do any press yet,” she said, her eyes hidden behind a pair of big, black sunglasses. Source
Ummm…yea, I can see the video now, J-ho in a pair of riding pants and thigh high boots, shakin' her booty in front of Barack, whilst singing “Bama From the Block” in a synthesized voice. Jesus take me now!
