Ashanti Blames Flop on Economy

Irv Gotti thinks that Ashanti’s last album was a flop because he wasn’t involved but she blames the economy. She says, “Obviously, the industry has changed in the past five years. My last album came out in ‘04 and things changed internally, label-wise, and it’s very political in this industry. And sometimes you have to just do what you have to do. I love the album. I think the reviews have been the best reviews on any album that I ever put out so it goes to show you it is what it is and it happens. Obviously, it’s not as successful as we all wanted it to be, but I gained a lot of respect from a lot people who’ve said “Wow, the album is hot, and you did it by yourself.” I mean the biggest artists and biggest acts haven’t been selling nearly as much as they used to, too, so everyone is suffering from this recession–it’s hitting everyone.” Source
If you’re hot you’re hot. If you’re not, you’re not. If people really wanted to cop her ish they would.

No More Murder, Inc. for Ashanti

Irv Gotti is finally setting Ashanti free. The two haven’t been talking for a while and he’s announced that he’s going to be releasing her form the label.

The relationship has run its course. The chemistry of what’s needed — we’re in two totally different places. You’re talking to somebody that took her and shaped and molded her and put her out there for the world, and it blew up. We [hold the record] for the [fastest] selling debut by a female R&B artist — 503 [thousand]. We did it! My views and philosophies and her views and philosophies are not meeting up.” Source

OOOOORRR you hit it, split it, smacked it, flipped it, then humiliated her by telling the whole world about it. I’m thinking that’s the reason for y’alls views and philosophies not meeting up.

"Gotti's Way" is Coming Back

VH1 has confirmed that Irv Gotti and is fam are coming back for a second season of Gotti’s Way. According to AllHipHop.com this season Dep will be striking out as a first time single mother while Irv will be focusing on reestablishing his label with new albums from Lloyd, JaRule and new artist T-Dot.
"This is definitely not the Cosby's or Run’s House," VH1 explained. "But it is clear that whatever way things turn out, they are going to be ‘Gotti’s Way.’"
The show premieres Monday, November 3 at 10:30 p.m. Source
Watching this show made me sad, most of all for Deb. She had allowed herself to become just Irv’s wife. No job, no skills, no real life. I hope she finds a way to break from him and form her own life and personality.
