A protest was held yesterday in NYC against the cops found not-guilty in the Sean Bell shooting case. Rev. Al Sharpton, Nicole Bell, the two other shooting victims and 212 more ‘Pray-In’ participants were arrested for disorderly conduct. They were released four hours later.

As much as I hate standing on soapboxes (I get vertigo, remember?). I must say that when I heard about the arrests in conjunction with this protest I felt angry and hurt…personally. The NYC powers-that-be have made a very potent statement: We will murder you. We will get away with it. We will silence the restless.
The protesters did what the rest of us complacent citizens wouldn’t. They stood up for justice through peace, and were betrayed (again) by the very system that is supposed to uphold justice. My gut tells me that these peaceful protests may become less and less peaceful if this blatant disregard for human rights…and more importantly, unashamed lack of humanity, continues.
I’ll step down now.
Thank you.
