Political Poop '08

As most of you know Sarah Palin, the woman presidential hopeful John McCain has picked as his running mate has some skeletons in her closet. She announced that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol Palin, is pregnant and marrying the father of the baby, Levi Johnston. Here’s her statement:
“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us,” the Palins said in the statement. “Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.
“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.”
Too early to say how this news will effect the Presidential race. The safest thing to say is that the Palin women are extremely fertile. At least Sarah will have a playmate for her 4-month old son.
Aye, aye, aye…and the hits keep comin’.

Obamapolooza! Barack Obama has responded to all this kibble going on with Sarah Palin and her fam:

“Let me be as clear as possible. I think people’s families are off-limits, and people’s children are especially off-limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin’s performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president. How a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be the topic of our politics, and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that’s off-limits.” Source

He just proves time and time again that he’s a cool cat.

In Other Poop…
Filmmaker Spike Lee thinks that if elected, Barack Obama will change the shape of American music. He said, "We gotta step it up... This is too important. We should use an event like Barack's presidency, which I feel is probably one of the most important moments in the history of this country, to galvanize us, to inspire us, and, yo, let's go!
"I believe artists have to lead the way. The same way as in the turbulent 60s... that music reflected both the difficult times we were going through and the enthusiasm and optimism we had, too. And I think Obama is going to have the same effect on African-American artists - and it's needed." Source
Interesting perspective. Barack’s campaign has garnered both a negative and positive response from the world of hip-hop in particular so far. It would be interesting to see how his appointment as commander and chief would have on music as a whole.
