Bey Talks Marriage

In an interview with Essence magazine Bey finally opens up…no really, for real this time. She told them that her wedding with Jay-Z was small and intimate because she didn’t need it to be ‘her day.” “It’s been my day so many days already,” she told the magazine.
She added that she didn’t want an engagement ring because “people put too much emphasis on that. It’s just material, and it’s just silly to me,” she said. So in addition to their rings they also got tattoos of the Roman numeral 4 (IV) on their ring fingers so there will always be something symbolizing their union whether they’re wearing rings or not. The #4 is significant to them because Bey’s birthday is on the 4th of September, Jay’s birthday is on the 4th of December and they wed on the 4th of April. Source
