Obamapolooza!!!

Shepard Fairey, the artist who painted a portrait of President Obama based on an AP photograph is now being sued by the press agency.
They are suing himi for copyright infringement.
The AP says it owns the copyright, and wants credit and compensation. Fairey disagrees.
“The Associated Press has determined that the photograph used in the poster is an AP photo and that its use required permission,” the AP’s director of media relations, Paul Colford, said.
“AP safeguards its assets and looks at these events on a case-by-case basis. We have reached out to Mr. Fairey’s attorney and are in discussions. We hope for an amicable solution.”
“We believe fair use protects Shepard’s right to do what he did here,” says Fairey’s attorney, Anthony Falzone, executive director of the Fair Use Project at Stanford University and a lecturer at the Stanford Law School. “It wouldn’t be appropriate to comment beyond that at this time because we are in discussions about this with the AP.”

I like how they took their time to file the suit. His artwork has been in circulation for months and all of a sudden it’s a problem. Rediculous.

Xtina's Hubby Wants to Buy Violent Art

Christina Aguilera’s husband, producer Jordan Bratman, has been eyeing artwork from shock artist Cleon Peterson and plans on filling their new home with it. The artpieces depict images of rape, mugging and brutality.
One gallery regular who witnessed Bratman's art interest says, "It was clear he was there to check out Peterson's The Occupation exhibition, which opened last week
"The artist's pieces look colorful and interesting from a distance, and closer inspection shows scenes of street violence. It's quite disturbing. "He left the gallery without buying anything, but you could tell he was very interested. Maybe Christina will have to OK his strange choice in art before he buys." Source
I surely hope he wouldn’t wallpaper his house with that kind of art with a child in the home. But you know how these wacky celebs are.
Here’s one of his pieces below:

Paris Turned into Porn Art

Jonathan Yeo is the artist who created the above portrait of Paris Hilton using nothing but clippings from porn mags. FOX News reports: r knowing when not to waste paint. reports:
He got the idea for the collages following the cancellation of a commission by the White House to paint Bush in 2004. He made the portrait, anyway, but in the form of a collage using pieces of pornographic magazines.Barrett said posters of the Hilton portrait, titled "Paris, 2008," will be sold for $20 each at the gallery. She said Yeo was offering Hilton proceeds from the sale of the posters as a "lighthearted" gesture because the hotel heiress has said she didn't receive any money from the notorious 2004 sex video that starred her and then-boyfriend Rick Salomon. $2.39 to the first person to spot a nip in the picture.
