John Amos who us old heads know from playing the dad on
Good Times or Kunta Kinte on
Roots but now is on
Men in Trees has been signed to a record label. Egad! But that’s not the worst of it…he’s got a 5 album deal to release (drum roll please)…country music! Gasp!
Gene Cash, CEO of Music Row Records, where Amos is signed, said,
“Country Music is all about storytelling. That’s what makes John perfect for this genre. We worked with him closely and helped him discover his singing voice as well. John Amos is country music.”
He is, eh? See I thought cowboy boots, tight, high wasted, tapered ankle jeans, sad lyrics, twang, gee-tars, and the wonder that is Dolly Parton’s rack were country. No. John Amos isn’t country. He isn’t even from the country. He’s from Newark! John Amos is …he’s ….um, Hell I don’t know! But what I do know is that he ain’t country. Humph! He’s probably just bored. He should take up a hobby like whittling or something.
