Madonna=Woman of the Year

MTV has named Madonna their woman of the year.
Numbers 2-5 are as follows:
2. Britney Spears
3. Taylor Swift
4. Miley Cyrus
5. Katy Perry
Source
Bey and Rihanna were somewhere around 7 & 8. Personally I’d give it to Rihanna because her superstardom is damn near ridiculous at this point but I suppose MTV wanted to give Madge a nod seeing as she’s been doing this for the past 150 years.

Video of the Day

As many of you know, yesterday the powers that be at Viacom let go 850 employees. MTV Networks, the place my cubicle calls home, was hit especially hard. Whole offices (RIP MTVN London) were wiped out, and I saw a lot of good friends and colleagues go. Pabs, Matt, Eddie…you will be missed. For my homies and all of those loyal employees who were lost in the bloodbath I tip my forty to you. Today’s ‘Video of the Day’ is dedicated to you.

Peace TRL!

TRL said ‘Peace Out!’ with the help of a star studded cast and former VJs this past Sunday (November 16, 2008). There were a bevy of stars who showed up to the TRL studio in Time Square including Diddy, Nelly, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, 50 Cent, Teyana Taylor, and Beyonce.
More pics from the event over at Bossip. Source
So Sunday I ran in ‘Race to Deliver’ with my co-workers, Team MTV, and I had to go into the building to drop some stuff off and pick some stuff up. I totally forgot about the TRL finale and was met with a sea of cops (apparently they don’t have anything better to do) who actedl like they were going to sucker punch me for daring to come into the building. Once I got past the cops at the bottom of the escalator I had to deal with the wall of cops at the top and forcibly say, “I work here!!!!! Excuse me!!!!” while I hastily searced for my ID for fear that they’d shoot me on the spot.
Um, is it me or does no one care about this?! I know I work for the company, but seriously, MTV, get over yourself! I was in fear for my life cus security was willing to protect the talent at all costs. What about your loyal employee? Humph!
Ok…I’m done.

Beyonce to Perform on "TRL" Finale

MTV is gearing up for its series finale of TRL which will air on November 16th at 8pm. They’ve confirmed Beyonce will be performing on the show which will be called “Total Finale Live. Bey was on the show the other day to premier two new videos and she said that she owes a lot of her success to the show.
"I can remember being 16 or 17 when they asked us to be on the show, and it was our big moment," she told host Damien Fahey. Although she looks back on the memory fondly, she admits that seeing a teen version of herself was weird. "It's not cool to document your moments at 17," she joked. Source
I hope she doesn’t do that Single Ladies song. And if she does there should be a disclaimer for all the epileptics out there.

Don’t look directly into the screen. The fast jerky dancing may cause seizures.

2008 MTV Video Music Awards (***Live Blog***)

I'm live blogging tonight and I'll upload pics and vids manana...enjoy!

Opening Act (Red Carpet)

8:00 VJ Tim Kash chats it up with Lauren Conrad...something about her makes me want to take a nap. VJ Kim Stolz talks to Idol reject Taylor Swift who's acting as the fashion correspondent...I don't know why. She has on some gold Vegas number with what I can only assume are her black dusty church shoes.
8:08 Tokio Hotel arrives in a monster truck looking like some wacky contrived farce of a rock band.
8:14 Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus show up together...interesting. T-Pain shows up seconds later dressed in his ringleader garb atop an elephant...wearing a t-pain chain...and accompanied by some ghetto fab circus folk. I guess I can be thankful there are no midgets. Thank you Jesus...thank you very much...OH WAIT! THERE GOES ONE! Sorry Lord...I'mma have to take that back.

8:18 Taylor interviews Pink and sounds like a complete idiot. Can someone let me know when she'll be back on screen? I need to avoid her at all costs.
8:26 Taylor is talking again...this time to Katy and Miley. All three are Nominated for "Best New Artist". I want to like Katy's vintage look...but her 50s inspired hot pants/granny pantie short shorts make me feel uncomfortable...actually they should make her feel uncomfortable.
8:28 VJ John Norris interviews Kid Rock and Michael Phelps who' sporting a sorta 5 o'clock shadow and some shades. I think he's trying to be cool. Let's not tell him he failed...don't wanna steal his thunder.

8:34 Kabba Modern of America's Best Dance Crew fame performs to Ne-Yo's Closer. Then Fannie Pack performs to Damage by Danity Kane. The two are competing in some online vote in contest. I LOVES me some Fanny pack. If you ask me they should have won on the show..but whatevs.

8:43 Tim talked to Xtina who, although she was extra blond at least her makeup was toned down. Well played honey...well played.
8:45 Taylor talked to the Jonas brothers...one of them is wearing a white sateen suit. It's hurting my eyes and my tummy. Jael (my 8-year-old niece) sweetheart, which one of these boys should I be writing an angry yet loving letter too? I can't tell them apart.
8:50 Taylor interviews Ashlee Simpson whom she keeps referring to as "VERY PREGNANT". Um, Taylor, you idiot, it's hard enough being pregnant without your skinny ass calling attention to her bursting belly. Tim chats with Kobe Bryant who came with his always silent...always pursed lipped mouth.

8:58 Tim talks to Paris and that Madden boy. Her purse looks like she bought it at Kohl's. LMAO!

It's SHOWTIME!

9:00 Brit and Jonah Hill (SuperBad) do this weird skit about taking away her nerves where he keeps trying to kiss her. Then when she comes to the stage live she speeds through her lines and gets the hell outta there before she could eff anything up.

Rihanna comes out and performs her hit "Disturbia" looking hot and got and metal and dark and I love it...all of it. Leather, chains, fishnets, feathers, and a stage full of possessed/demented dancers. This girl knows how to do a performance.

9:08 Russell Brand comes out to start his hosting gig...I still have no idea who this guy is. More importantly, how the hell did he get into those pants. In his opening he goes the political route...I gave him 2 full minutes (which is a lot) to make me laugh...but he didn't so I stopped paying attention and just stared at his tight pants in hopes of seeing one of his testicles rupture under the pressure.

9:15 Jamie fox is here to present the first award. Thank God...no more 'Nut Strangler'. Phew!
Best Female Video Britney Spears "Piece of Me", Katy Perry "I Kissed a Girl", Rihanna "Take a Bow", Jordin Sparks "No Air", Mariah Carey "Touch My Body". The winner is? Britney! She graciously accepts her award thanking her fam and she doesn't eff up! Woot!

9:27 Demi Moore presents Best Male Video: Chris Brown "With You", Florida "Low", T.I. "No Matter What", Usher "Love in this Club", Lil Wayne "Lollipop". The winner is? Chris Brown. I don't know who he thanked cus I can't look at him without being irritated by the large lower region of his face. Thank God he kept is short.

9:30 Taylor Swift introduces the Jonas Brothers...They perform "Lovebug" on a stoop that reminds me of the 227 stoop...Brewer asks if they're on Sesaeme Street...either way, it doesn't work for me..I think I'll take this moment to make a drink.

9:35 Katy Pery starts singing Madonna's "Like a Virgin" then it cuts to commercial...then it comes back with her singing her song "I Kissed a Girl"...why don't we get to see both performances the whole way through? Maybe because she started peeling the banana on her outfit...uncomfortable
"Like a Virgin"

"I Kissed a Girl"

9:41 Michael "Heavy Tongue" Phelps comes out to introduce Lil Wayne, featuring Leona Lewis and T-Pain. He walks all the way down the stairs grabbing at his penis...sigh...I'll ignore it cus I like this song. I must say that I don't like this venue at all... it doesn't allow for fans to surround the stage and go crazy...just a bunch of stiff artists sitting in the audience staring confused at the wild back monkeys jumping around on the stage. The performance is pretty dynamic though. I can actually feel the heat eliminating from under T-Pain's leather military jacket...I can smell the funk coming out of there as well.

9:46 Linsay Lohan and Ciara present the winner of the VMA Dance Battle and my faves Fannie Pack win. Woot! They also present for Best Dancing in a Video: Ne-Yo "Closer", Madonna "4 Minutes", Chris Brown "Forever", Danity Kane "Damaged", Pussycat Dolls "When I Grow Up". The winner is?Pussycat Dolls. They're dressed in evening wear. It looks weird. Take off the chiffon. SHOW US YOUR TITS!

9:55 Danity Kane tabulates text votes for Best New Artist Award and then the Stars of the new Twilight Movie announce Rock band Paramore playing over at the Whiskey. ...I've never heard of them...And I'm a little concerned that the young lady fronting the band is going to hurt herself. Medic! Man down!

10:05 Slash and Shia Lebouf present for Best Rock Video: Fall Out Boy "Beat It", Foo Fighters "The Pretender", Linkin Park "Shadow of the Day", Paramore "CrushCrushCrush", and Slipknot "Psychosocial". The winner is? Linkin Park

10:10 Miley Cyrus introduces Pink who performs "So What". I love pink. I told Jordan if I ever met her I'd be scared she'd kick my ass...then eat it. Yet and still, she's one of my faves.

10:20 We come back from the commercial to the Ting Tings per forming...

Then Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz encourage folks to vote for the Best New Artist...and they did so in a most annoying way.

10:23 Slipknot and McLovin present the Best Hip-Hop Video: Lil Wayne "Lil Wayne", Lupe Fiasco "Superstar", Flo-rida "Low", "Mary J. Blige "Just Fine", Kanye West "Homecoming". The winner is? Lil Wayne...Well at least i cant see his drawls.

10:25 T.I. performs "Whatever You Like"...when he's done the director of the "video shoot" yells cut and they cut to Rihanna who is performing "Live Your Life" while her boo-boo Chris Brown sings along from the crowd. She's wearing some skintight pants and a crop leather jacket...no shirt. But if I looked like Rihanna I'd avoid clothing at all costs. T.I. meets her on stage to join her for his featured rhyme.
"Whatever You Like"

"Live Your Life"

10:36 The cast of High School Musical present Christina Aguilera who's performing "Superbitch". She looks like catwoman...except with a little more whore mixed in. I spy a cameltoe and pelvic thrusting, which, if you ask me, is a recipe for disaster...namely an infection.

10:43 Chase Crawford (Gossip Girls) and Lauren Conrad (The Hills) Present the Best New Artist Award: Miley Cyrus "7 Things", Katy Perry "I Kissed a Girl", Jordin Sparks "No Air", Tokio Hotel "Ready Set Go", Taylor Swift "Teardrops in my Guitar". And the winner is? Tokio Hotel

10:49 We come back from commercial with LL performing "Going back to Cali". Surprisingly...and to my disappointment he actually has his shirt on.

10:51 Paris Hilton joins Russel to present Best Pop Video: Jonis Brothers "Burnin' Up", Britney Spears "Peace of Me", Tokio Hotel "Ready, Set, Go", Danity Kane "Damaged", Panic at the Disco "Nine in the Afternoon". The winner is? Britney Spears! Win #2 of three noms. And we head to commercial with Lupe fiasco performing "Superstar".

10:59 Disney's Drake and Josh introduce Kid Rock to perform "Rock 'N Roll Jesus/All Summer Long" with Lil Wayne. I don't know these songs and I'm indifferent about Kid Rock so yea...moving right along.

11:09 Kobe Bryant presents the Video of the Year: Chris Brown "Forever", Jonas Brothers "Burnin' Up", Pussycat Dolls "When I Grow Up", Britney Spears "Piece of Me", and The Ting Tings "Shut Up and Let Me Go". The winner is? Britney! Lorda mercy (insert carribean accent at will). Russell and Britney ride off into the sunset on a golf cart as Kanye begins performing "Love Lockdown". All I can hope is that at some point in the song he stop s performing to have a full blown tantrum because he lost for Hip-Hop Video. Lord knows he likes to lose his shit everytime he doesn't win. At least if he goes crazy taht'll make the past three hours worth while..but alas, NADA! I need another drink...excuse me.

Once You Go Black: More New Reality for VH1

VH1 has a new reality show coming out called “Interracial love” where a man named Tobias White and his two bi-racial sons look for a black wife/mother:
“I’m a white male and I’ve always dated only black women. I just always have. It’s not that I’m prejudiced against my own race, but it just seemed a better fit for me. And now I have two children that are bi-racial. I’ve seen so many shows like the Bachelor and now Age of Love, The Rock of Love and Joe Millionaire. They always have 19 or 20 white women on the show and they’ll have one black woman. It’s almost like it was set up for the black woman to get voted off. To me, with the mother of my kids being black, I think it’s a disrespectful thing. And I was just thinking one day about a year ago that this would be a good reality show. Me and my sons want a good woman in our lives, and who better to help me find my Queen, than my sons? Who knows me better than my sons?” Source
Tobias kinda has a point. But do we really need this show? Ah, hell, who am I kidding? I’ll watch it regardless.

New Reality for VH1

Ego Trip and VH1 partnered last year to do “The White Rapper Show”. this year they’re partnering to do “Miss Rap Supreme" with host Yo-yo. It’s a search for the next female rap star. 10 contestants will battle for 8 weeks to win the title of Miss Rap Supreme and $100,000. Source
After watching the boring trailer I don’t think this will be part of my TV line-up. Plus I don’t know if ANYthing can top John Brown’s ghetto revival. Hallelujah, holla back!
You can view the trailer here.

MTV's Got No Love for Gnarls

Gnarls Barkley has some new music coming out and subsequently new videos. The video for “Run” though is causing controversy because it’s been banned by MTV. Apparently the video failed something called the “Harding test” which tests videos to see if they’ll cause seizures in viewers.
“I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but we’re having issues,” Danger Mouse told Billboard. “I think [the video] is cool. It works for me. But I’m not necessarily that easily seasick. We can’t predict how people are going to interpret it.” (Source)
Thanks for looking out for our safety MTV…to bad you didn’t do that for the Check On It video…yea, all of England was thrown into epileptic fits after that craziness aired.
Check out “Run” below…don’t forget to wear your helmet and mouth guard just in case.

This Just In: Protest at Viacom Headquarters!!

This just in! So some of you may have heard about the drama going on over here at Viacom. The permalancers are not willing to accept the terms of their new contracts which among other things includes cutting their benefits. It is my understanding that the permalancers are most upset with how the changes were communicated to them. So today at 3pm they staged a walk out. As we speak they're outside protesting. I snuck off for a few pics.
Strangely enough I caught a pic of T-Weed from season one of I Love New York. But wait, that's not the point here. Anywayz, they held signs that read "Viacon" and "Sickelodeon" and were chanting "Don't take away our holidays!", "We work here too!" and "Shame on Viacom!" While out there I got the urge to jump up and shout "Revolution!" It was exhilarating. But then I remembered that although I support them...I need to keep my job...and its cold. So I came inside. But permalancers please know that the tiny Lo deep deep inside me is shouting "Vive le permelancers!" at the top of her lungs.

The MTV Networks Holiday Party and Why Alcohol + Work = Disaster

Hey y'all! So I'm finally able to post the pics from the party. My night began with a gift exchange with the folks in my department. There were some awesome gifts like a chair massager, waffle iron, chia pet, Mr. Potato Head (Transformers edition), and Nerf dartboard gun thingie. What did I walk away with? A box of XL Magnums...
Of course booze was served...I made sure to down four glasses of wine. What kind of wine you ask? I don't know and I don't care. Afterwards Tracy, Chevonne, and I headed to Hammerstein ballroom for the big shebang. There was big controversy this year over how the temps and freelancers were shafted. Damn you corporate America!
Anyway, when we get inside here was the scene:
I was trying to get a pic of her shirt. I think it said something like Perma-lancers need booze too, or something like that.
If you close ur right eye and squint you can see in the very center of the snow globe a dude in there dancing...I wonder what he got paid for that?
I chillax with Trace and Chevonne for a minute, grab a vodka and Red Bull (Tracy's suggestion...thanks to her I was up all damn night), and head up to one of the balconies where I spot Sheri and Onika.Hi Sheri and Onika!

Samantha was up there too. Like how us brownies find each other and latch on for dear life? So this whole time ,my ace Pabvon is nowhere to be found. It's about 9:30, She's still out with her team at a restaurant, and I'm getting saucier by the minute. What does that mean? I'm calling her like a jealous ex-boyfriend. But finally, alas, she arrives! After that things get a little shady for me. Pabz and I do a once around on the floor, grab drinks, take pics and eat food along the way. Oh let me pause to let you know that there's open bar and food stations all over the place. Holla!

Whats an awesome snack when you're drinking? That's right, TOTS!
We locate some of the folks we used to work with at TV Land Shana and Mitchell.

We were attempting a double stuffed Oreo...oh well, nice try I guess. Yay! My former Nick homegirls Catherine, Jen, and Melisa...
Oh wait! I found another blackle...Love you Tuni! I think I may have goosed Lisa Park when I stopped her for a pic (and yes, I call her by her full name every time I see her).
Now it's time for more drinks. Cranberry and vodka, Red Bull and Vodka, Vodka and Vodka. Please not the progression of my inebriation.

I'm making my sexy face...why? At least Lauren (yea there's like 57.8 Laurens on my floor) looks cute.

Note the glazed over look...it's my signature.
So yea, at some point Pabz and I go back to the balcony where the other brownies have posted up. I'm feel like I'm very close to the point of no return so I excuse myself to go to the bathroom. But its a rouse! Instead I grab my coat and wait for a town car to take me to Aaron's. Anyone who knows me knows that I am quite famous for my disappearing acts. While I'm waiting an ambulance pulls up and EMT's race out with a stretcher and inside the party. Yea, it's all fun and games til someone kicks the bucket at the holiday party.
. It's my way of keeping myself from having that one last drink that will take me right over the edge. Anywho, I'm forced to share a car with like everyone else who lives in Jersey. Thankfully I'm the first stop. That doesn't mean the ride was uneventful. The dude next to me kept waking me up to tell me to give directions to the driver. UM! he has a GPS system. And I'm sleeping! leave me alone!
I get to Aaron's and talk his and Jordan's ear off for a while (remember the Red Bulls?) until I'm sent to bed.
So, no i didn't get any scandalous pics like I did last year of two married account execs humping each others brains out on the dance floor (note: they weren't married to each other). I also didn't cut a rug as much as I would have wanted to but overall, I must say it quite a grand and interesting evening.
