Solange Post

Solange Knowles threatened to shave her head in protest to constantly being asked about her more famous older sister. And well, she went through with it. In a Twitter post she said that she’s "not bald" but is just going through the "I wanna cut all my hair off phase." Source
Look, sometimes you just gotta free yourself. Shit, I did. Of course, when I first cut off all my processed locks I cried for about a half hour and wore hats and scarfs for two months. But after 60 days of reflection I said, eff it, who gives a damn. Plus, if I recall She’s done this before. I recall seeing pics of her at her baby shower rockin a baldy.

Solange has lashed out via the net yet again to discuss her recent haircut amongst other things.

It’s interesting to see that former Destiny’s Child member LaTavia Roberson Tweeted (most likely about Solo) the following:
i dont get the whole shave my head thing. its not edgy its attention seeking. believe me i know. some people look like halle and others look straight up tranny. its a big commitment twitterbugs. personally i keep it cut and clean. dont bring no razors near my crown
LaTavia later denyed talking about Solange and insisted that she tweeted before even seeing pics of Solange. Source

Solo Defends Bey Again

Solange took to her Twitter page to defend her sister Beyonce yet again. She lashed back at opinions that Beyonce should let ‘better’ vocalists have the spotlight. Here’s what she tweeted:
“Sick of people thinking I’m gonna be my sisters enemy. Now that was the “nice” read. Next person who hits me with some negative energy about my sister is gonna get Fox news all over again. Don’t try to love ME because you want to be the “anti Beyonce”. I am the ‘all for’ Beyonce. Now kiss both of our Knowles asses if you don’t like it!” Source
I feel Solo for defending her sister. I’d bludgeon someone to death in a dark dirty alley for either of my sisters. But sometimes no response is the best response. If Bey is such hot stuff let her talent and album sales speak for themselves.

Solo Hates Her Performing Expressions

Apparently Solo thinks she looks weird when she sings. She recently told a photographer when she was performing, “Mr. Photographer, you are making me self-conscious. I swear I make the same stupid three faces over and over again, so please leave me be.” Source

Solange to Open for Wacko?

According to a little birdie, Solo’s got a brand new exciting gig. She’ll supposedly be opening up for Michael Jackson for his Euro farewell tour.
According to sources she’s renewed her passport and is in the final stages of negotiations for the gig. Source
I’m both excited and confused. How’d the Beyonce machine allow Solo to get away with this one?

Bey and Solo to Duet

Bey and Solo are going to share the stage soon. Solo is working on her second album which will feature a duet between her and her sister.

“I definitely think that they’ll be a time and a place for me and my sister to collaborate,” Solange told MTV News. “It’s just all about the time and the place and letting it evolve naturally — and whenever that day happens well embrace it we’ll come up with something good.” Source

And by duet they mean that Bey will riff her cheeks off while Solange holds the mic for her.

In the heels of Kelly Rowland being let go from her label, the net was abuzz with rumors that Solange had gotten the axe from Geffen. But Solo set it straight and said this is totally false.

She responded via her Twitter page: "you stooppid idioots part 19" lol. Today, April 7, 09 I am still on Music World/Geffen/ Interscope records..." Source

Solo Takes a Stab at Former DC Member

Solange gets at LeToya Luckett, et al, for supposedly stealing the whole “60’s girl group” idea from her.
She says “i remember being n Idaho 4 years ago, pulling out all my old Martha& the Vandellas, Marvelettes and Supremes records,coming up with a vision wanting to create a new age 60’s girls group and modernize it. started working on soul-angel finding 2 girls and watching old shows. this was before amy winehouse so people thought i was truly bugging out. i did i decided wiith the two girls..watched about 25 old shows of all the girl groups and asking my sis to help me come up with moves ( she had just done dreamgirls) worked my but off on references…after i did i decided alot of folks were digging it but alot of folks thought were confused about “the look” now every which a way i turn..everyone is in a 60’s girl group reference. its like traditional r&b again to do the 60’s sound, look ect.

I like Solo but you can’t call someone else out for biting when…well, that’s the definition of what you did. You wouldn’t be able to have a ‘60s girl group sound if there weren’t, you know, girl groups in the ‘60s who did it first. I’m just saying.

Solange Involved in a Bus Crash

Solo was in an accident on Tuesday (March 10, 2009) while traveling from Austin to Houston for a show.
She tweeted: "I'm on the phone baking like Betty in my bus bunk and CRASH! Thought I was dead, but turns out we ran into a family of dear.""I can't believe it. We're all ok though," she said. "Guitar player flew out of bunk [and] hurt his hand a little. But I'm saying a huge prayer of thanks right now. God is good ALL the time!" Source
Dang, first she passes out from dehydration, then her bus crashes. It’s like Final Destination 7 up in this piece.

Solo Gets Crunk Off of Sizzurp

Solange Knowles had to go to the hospital this week after fainting at an airport. She supposedly took a dose of Nyquil and was treated for dehydration and low blood pressure.
"Woke up to 8 random people over me, laid out on the floor in baggage claim!" she said, via Twitter early this morning. "Guess I passed out! Scary. Hooked up to IV now. Apparently I'm super dehydrated.""I took a Nyquil and I think maybe I'm getting high off it because I'm not sleeping," she wrote, later adding, "everythings movvvvviinnngg slooooowww, lol."She was released from the hospital after a second round of IV and a visit from her mother, Tina. "My mom is the best. LOL," Solange wrote. "She's like, ain't nothing wrong with this girl, she need some water and rest... Pull up the car! LOL." Source

Solo Defends Bey

Solange laughed off the idea that Janet Jackson would confront her sister over statements Bey said about the Jackson family.
A source claims she said, “What ever. Beyonce ain’t scared of Janet. All my sister did was tell the truth…she wasn’t trying to hurt nobody”. Source
This reminds me of the infamous lockerrom fight of Lincoln Middle School circa ’95. These two chicks were beefin all year. One of them, we’ll call her Baldy, kept talkin about how she was gonna kick the other’s ass, threatening her and saying she had a wide butt (she did but that’s not the point). So at the end of the year Big Butt got sick and tired of dealing with this chick. After a rousing game of kickball she found Baldy in the locker room, waited for her to bend over to tie her shoe and kicked her in the face. Then baldy found a miscellaneous clog on the floor and started bashing in the side of Big Butt’s face. It was worse than watching a Kimbo Slice beatdown. Anywho, I say this to say that folks need to be careful about flappin’ their gums so much because it often leads to broken teeth and weave on the floor.

Beyonce and Solange Pull Out of Their Own Charity Concert

Beyonce and sister Solange were supposed to perform in a charity concert called, ‘Beyonce and Solange: Hope for the Holidays’ benefit in their native Houston. The show would benefit victims of Hurricane Ike. But they canceled due to “irresolvable scheduling conflicts.”
“Beyonce and Solange regret the cancellation of their Houston-area holiday concert and urge their fans to support the efforts of The Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund and the Survivor Foundation,” the record label said in a statement. Source

Solo Wants to Adopt

Solange says that she wants to find another man and adopt. She was married once to her son Daniel’s father, Daniel Smith, but they divorced after a year.
She says, "I'd definitely get married again."
She adds that she also wants more children, "even if it means adopting. If there are two people devoted to nourishing and growing and developing their love for a child that is a beautiful thing. Kelly grew up with me since I was about five years old, so she is my sister. She didn't come from my parents, but there is nothing I feel differently for her than my sister. I have definitely explored that option... But I've got to find a man first!" Source
I’m a big advocate of adoption and I can appreciate her wanting to get married first so that she can provide her children (natural or adopted) with both a mother and father.
But I must wonder...does she want to adopt in hopes of swapping Daniel out for a less Satanic child?

Beyonce and Solange to Tour Together

Bey and Solo will be gong on tour together starting April 2009. Their going to do a 110 date world tour, that will make stops in places like Japan, Africa, the US and Canada.
There will be a main show with Beyonce and then fans will have access to an after-party where Solange will perform at a smaller venue. Source
In one way that’s kinda kewl. In another it’s kinda effed up. I could see if Solo was opening for Bey or something like that. But it’s like come see Bey in Madison Square Garden…afterwards you can check Solange performing at the concession stand.

New Show for Solo

Matthew Knowles, Bey’s and Solo’s daddy, is “aggressively shopping” a reality show around to the networks that would feature Solange. Supposedly E! is interested. Bey most likely won’t be on the show because as celebrity insiders say, Solange is “done taking a back seat to her big sis and is not going to stand for it any longer.” “There is a lot of tension between the two sisters right now and their relationship is suffering,” a source said in this week’s edition of the National Enquirer. Source
I wonder how real this show will be. Will it show all the sexo sexo and cheeba smoking Solo claims she does?

Solo and Baby Daniel did an interview with People magazine about child appropriate music called Kid-Approved Jams”. On Daniel’s playlist is:

2. Solange’s single “I Decided” – I’m sure the little boy does sing this but dang, some folks never miss an opportunity to plug their own stuff do they?

Papa Knowles Defends His Baby

Matthew Knowles, father of Beyonce and Solange, went off on KRBE morning show host DJ “Special K” for calling Solange a bitch. Apparently the insult was in reference to Solange’s behavior on the Fox morning show a week or so ago. Matthew believes that Houston, of all cities, should be supportive of his girls because he has given so much to it and they shouldn’t even acknowledge the interview on Fox. The full audio is here.
