Obamapolooza!!!!

Denzel Washington has landed his dream role playing President Obama in a new movie.
He says, "It was at the President's suggestion. The only problem is he has bigger ears than me." Source
Ok, I loves Denzel, Gawt knows I do (anyone who knows me knows I own every Denzel movie ever made). But, he’s one of those actors who has been able to parle a career playing themselves in every role they portray. I don’t know if he’ll be able to shed that to do Obama. If he finds a way to incorporate ‘my man’ into the dialogue I’mma have to walk out of the theater.

Ciara's Caught the Bug

Since shooting the musical “Mama, I Want to Sing!” Ciara wants to act more. She says that she “wouldn’t mind doing more musicals.”
She says, “Maybe something like ‘Die Hard.’ Or I could have an Angelina Jolie moment, do something like she did in ‘Tomb Raider.’ I love that kind of stuff — the power in it, you know?”
She also wants to start a clothing line.
“It will take time, but it’s on my list of things to accomplish.” Source
Pump your breaks grasshopper. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Her acting isn’t horrible. But it’s not necessarily even better than Beyonce…which isn’t saying much.

The Kung-Fu Kid Begins Shooting

Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith began shooting for “The Kung-Fu Kid” a remake of the ’84 classic “The Karate Kid” in China recently. Jaden’s dad, Will Smith is producing the film. Jackie Chan will be playing the Mr. Miyagi-esque character. Source
I’m still not sure why a remake of this film is necessary. Leave the classics alone.

Beyonce to Star in Sister Act ?!?!?!

Beyonce may be playing in the next Sister Act (Lord be with us). Disney wants to pick up the project with Bey starring in the role previously held by Whoopie Goldberg as Deloris Van Cartier. Source
This is straight sacrilege. I’m sorry but the Sister Act franchise shall not be marred by bad acting and unnecessary riffs. NO!

Eminem on the Big Screen Again

Eminem has landed a new movie role. He’ll be in the film, ‘Funny People.’ He’s appearing alongside actors Jonah Hill, Adam Sandler and Seth Rogan. Source
He was great in ‘8 Mile’ (I know he was playing himself but he was still good). So I’m looking forward to see what he does with this new role.

Denzel and Will to Star in a Comedy

Superstar actors, Will Smith and Denzel Washington, will be starring together in a new comedy.
Denzel spoke about the unnamed project in a recent interview when questioned about doing a comedic role. “I shouldn’t talk about it, but I will just say that Will Smith and I are working on a project and hopefully we will make it next year.”“[Will and I] were in London last summer, [and] we were just kind of fooling around, improvising, and Will was saying, ‘Don’t worry, Denzel, you don’t have to be the funny guy, you can be the straight guy, just be dead serious.’ “There was some funny stuff, so I look forward to it.”
Source
Denzel started off in comedy. Ever see ‘Heart Condition?’ I guess it’s kinda funny…no thanks to my beloved Denzel. I see why he stuck with dramas. Hopefully he’ll be able to play the straight man role well.

The Game Gets Down With Stacey Dash

The Game will be staring in an upcoming film called House arrest alongside timeless banger Stacey Dash.
Hip Hop Press reported:
Beautiful cover model/actress Stacey Dash teams up and locks lips with renowned and often controversial rapper The Game to star in House Arrest a “dramedy” as director Billy Washington describes it. High maintenance girl meets quick money scheming man. Up the road and down the hill they go like Jack and Jill facing drama, after drama after drama. Cast includes: Stacey Dash, The Game, Kiera Washington, Red Grant, Bebe Drake, Theron Benymon, Shelli Boone, Cory Bievin and more. Source
Sounds like an Arabesque film to me.

Halle to Play Mother in Thriller "The Surrogate"

Halle Berry may be starring in a new thriller. She’ll be playing a woman who discovers that her child’s birth mother, a surrogate, is insane. Source
I like her in the thriller genre. I made the mistake of watching Gothika…alone…on a rainy night. Not a good idea.

King Children Battle Over Film Rights

The King kids are feuding. Steven Spielberg and Dream Works announced they’d purchased the rights to make a biopic about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. However, Dexter King negotiated the deal without first talking to his siblings, Martin II and Bernice King. They contend that they were notified of the agreement via email as it was being announced.
Bernice says, “We are taking action. We cannot reveal what it is at this time. Dexter King has entered into an agreement without approval of his shareholders." Source
It’s sad that Dexter got all greedy and that siblings have to solve matters like this in court. I’m wonder what Martin would think if he could see them now.

Who Will Win the Role of Old Blue Eyes?

Martin Scorcese is going to work on a big budget biopic about Frank Sinatra and EVERY dude in Hollywood is vying for the lead role.
Some of the top names in contention are Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, James Franco, Jake Gyllenhaal, Harry Connick Jr., John Ham, Mark Wahlberg, and Justin Timberlake. Source
I vote for Harry. I’d say Johnny cus I love him and his man bits, but Harry can both sing and act. So I’m gonna go with ol’ dumbo ears. He just has to work on his accent and he’s good to go.

"Precious" Post!

Above is the first trailer to be released of the Lee Daniels’ flick “Precious,” originally entitled “Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire.” The film has been adapted from a novel about a teenage girl living in Harlem and struggling to find her place and a sense of self worth. The film stars Gabby Sidbe, Mo’Nique, Paula Patton, Lenny Kravitz, and Mariah Carey.
Not only do I need to see the movie, but I’m putting the book on my wish list.

In Other 'Precious' news… Mariah Carey was left waiting on the red carpet to promote the movie when another movie screening ran over. Then when she was finally able to join her fellow stars and the director, Lee Daniels, on stage, Lee introduced the movie…tipsy.
Daniels told the assembled crowd, "Je suis fatiguee, (I'm very tired.) I've had too much champagne, so I'm not able to give the speech I spent three weeks preparing.
"I say this movie was made with love, bubble gum, popsicle sticks, everyone on this stage, and grace." Source
Can someone please instruct Mr. Daniels that he hasn’t won the Oscar YET…his unmistakable negrosity is NOT OK. Please and thank you.

American Gladiators, Coming to a Theater Near You

The creator of “American Gladiators,” Johnny Ferraro, is turning the TV franchise into a live-action adaptation for the big screen.

"I look forward to creating a compelling story that launches a whole new set of characters," Scott Mednick, Former Legendary Pictures chief marketing officer, said.

Ferraro noted "American Gladiators" was originally conceived as a film, but the property "took a detour and became a TV phenomenon." Source

I love everything about the TV show…I just don’t get how this will translate to the big screen. But I guess we’ll see.

Ciara just revealed that she’ll be joining Jay-z this summer on tour.

She Tweeted: "I will say it because the information has been leaked. Me and Jay-Z will be doing a 10-city tour.”

Confirmed dates:

07/03 - Las Vegas, NV @ The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort
07/04 - Las Vegas, NV @ The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort
07/07 - Chicago, IL @ Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island
07/10 - Uncasville, CT @ Mohegan Sun Arena

So I guess it doesn’t matter that her album sales are sucking it up right now. At least she’ll be able to make a few bucks off of the tour.

Samuel L.'s Got a New Gig

Uncle Sam has a new role…this time he’ll be playing a pirate. But not an “arg” kinda pirate. He’ll be playing Andrew Mwangura, a freelance journalist who becomes a negotiator of sorts with Somali pirates after they capture a bunch of ships. Source

Whew! I was scared he’d be walking around with a peg leg and yet ANOTHER crazy wig.

Drop Dead Fred All Over Again?

Universal is doing a remake of the cult film “Drop Dead Fred” staring Russell Brand.
The new version will supposedly be in the tone of “Beetlejuice” and will build a world around the idea of imaginary friends. Source
This makes me very sad inside. I LOVE "Drop Dead Fred”. Why must people continue to defile our beloved childhood movies? What’s next? A remake of the Goonies? Wait, I’ll hush before that actually happens.

New Role For Angie

Angelina has a new role on the horizon. She’ll be playing Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a character in Patricia Cornwell’s best selling book series. The film won’t be based on one specific book, but may be the start of a movie franchise. Source

Here’s what I need. I need Angelina to make herself a little more approachable and likable and them maybe people will go and see her movies. Cus right now I could care less. What do you guys think?

Foxx to Play Tyson in Biopic?

Former boxer, Mike Tyson, is in the works of having a biopic made about him and would love for Jamie Foxx to play him in a biopic.

"It's gonna be [about me]," he told MTV News about the planned collaboration. "It's gonna be Jamie Foxx portraying me in a life story."

"I don't know [who might direct]," he said. "Jamie discussed the things he wanted to do. He didn't know which way he wanted to go, but it was something he wanted to do. He told me not to tell anybody [too much]. He's just interested in doing it." Source

Lord…this ought to be interesting.

Idris Talks About Working with Bey on "Obsessed"

Idris Elba, Star of the new movie “Obsessed,” said that it was hard connecting with his costar Beyonce because of her handlers.

“I think this was a very important role for her, because it was the first time she wasn’t playing a singer. But when we first started taping, it was difficult for us to really connect as artists because she has such a huge machine behind her. So in the early going it felt divided … almost like it was her and her team on one side, and everyone else on the other. But once the cameras started rolling, she really opened up and those walls began to fall. As a result, I really saw her grow as an artist, and I think you’ll be able to see it as well when you watch the film.” Source

I’LLLL be the judge of that Mr. Elba. I think imma go see the movie tonight.
