Here’s the thing kids. For BET, the show actually wasn’t bad…I stress again ‘for BET.’ For any other self respecting channel that claims to be the voice and representation of a people this show was an inadequate and inappropriate (in most cases), display of sheer fuckery. I’ll explain. Coming from someone ‘in the business’ on the back end, I can appreciate the difficulty and great undertaking it must have been to put together a show of that magnitude in such a short period of time. I give props to the production people who put in numerous hours of hard work to try to pay tribute to Uncle Mike. BUT AND HOWEVER, there were a few things that I must say were absolutely unacceptable in everyway.
1. Joe Jackson, I understand you are grieving your son and sometimes people grieve in strange ways, but now is not the time to rep you new record label.
2. Jamie, I need you to not promote your music, movie, and comedy show ventures every time there’s a second of silence in the room.
3. Speaking of silence, was I the only one who heard crickets after every joke he told?
4. What was with the long pauses before and after every break. I don’t need to see a full sixty seconds of the camera on a dark stage with a janitor sweeping up and everyone shifting in their seats and coming back from the potty. YOU ARE ON THE AIR PEOPLE! GET IT TOGETHER!
5. Sound guy, what’s your address so I can send you a pamphlet on career counseling. At one point on Sunday afternoon did you decide to check out and allow EVERY expletive to escape you? I’m just curious.
6. Who’s idea was the ‘Baby Boy’ skit? Namely…Ving Raimes’ part. When he walked out drinking what I could only assume to be Kool-Aid from a plastic pitcher, my soul went postal before turning the gun on itself. WHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYY?!
7. Wheelchair Jimmy performs ‘Best I Ever Had’, with little girls dancing around him and Wayne. One of the girls I believe is Wayne’s daughter. Here’s my question: How is ok to utter the words “I wanna fuck every girl in the world!” whilst your tween daughter and her friends dance provocatively around you?!?!!? Blast you!

I’m spent. I said I wasn’t going to comment on this but after talking to Lillie aka “Blaze”, I was naturally fired up.
I pray the next tribute(s) will be a little better put together.

Kendra and Hank Tie the Knot

Kendra Wilkinson and fiancé Hank Baskett got married this past weekend at the Playboy Mansion. There were over 500 guests at the wedding according to Us Magazine.
"I'm ready to marry the man of my dreams," the bride told the magazine shortly before walking down the aisle. "He's one in a million. I'm so lucky."

A source said: “The bosses at EMI are keen to keep the cash cow churning out the readies.

“The Amy-branded cards are classy too. You Know I’m No Good is best for heartfelt apologies and Back To Black, with an appropriate wreath, will be the respectful response to a bereavement.” Source

Lenny Throws His Underclothes to the Wolves

Lenny Kravitz was feeling extra froggy during a recent gig in Glasgow when he ripped of his manties from under his kilt and threw them into the audience.
Before performing Lenny went to one of the leading kilt makers in Scottland, Howie Nicholsby, and had a quilt made. Upon the urging of his handlers he wore underwire under the kilt and made sure it was made out of a heavier material so there’d me no chance of it flying up.
Nicholsby says, "I advised Lenny not to go commando (without underwear) for his gig. Lenny is a real mover and he's got to have security with his clothing." So he wore the draws but then got fired up and threw them into the crowd anyway.

Update: Michael Jackson Confirmed Dead

Fox News, The LA Times, and CBS News have all confirmed that Uncle Wacko Jacko, MJ, Michael Joseph Jackson, is dead at the age of 50.

Michael Jackson Hospitalized...Possibly Dead

Michael Jackson has been hospitalized for cardiac arrest. Some news outlets are saying that he's dead (Fox...TMZ). Other News outlets (CNN) have not confirmed he is dead. I'll keep you updated once there's an official statement.
If you're still with us Uncle Wacko, get better. If we lost you we love you and you'll be missed.

Update 77: Chris Brown Arrested

When Chris Brown and Rihanna finally faced off in open court there weren’t the fireworks we were all looking for. To avoid jail time Chris plead guilty to felony assault in a plea deal where he’ll be serving five years probation and 1,400 hours of "labor-oriented service." In addition he’ll have to go through a year-long domestic-violence counseling class and check in with his probation officer every three months.
Though Rih-Rih was there to testify she didn’t have to because of his plea…so neither of them have spoken out publicly about what ‘really’ happened.
When Chris left the courtroom Judge Patricia Schnegg talked to Rihanna about the issuance of a "stay away" order, requiring Brown to stay 100 yards from her.
And through her attorney, Donald Etra, she said that wouldn’t need t to be issued. However, the judge said she was putting the order in anyway and reving it to 50 yards, 10 if they happened to be at the same "industry event" together. Source

Farrah Fawcett, Dead at 62

Actress Farrah Fawcett died today at the age of 62 after losing a long battle with cancer. She first revealed she had cancer in October of 2006 but went into remission a year later. However, the cancer returned after a few months and she decided to undergo alternative treatment (she had previously undergone chemotherapy and surgery).
O'Neal, who was at Fawcett's side when she died Thursday, tells Us: "Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."

I’ll leave you all with a clip from my favorite Farrah Fawcett movie “Small Sacrifices.” She playce a sociopathic mother who shoots her children so she can keep a man. I know, its effed up. But she does an awesome job…it’s right up there with her performance in “The Burning Bed.”

Martin is Back!

Martin Lawrence my grace the small screen soon. The comedian turned TV star, turned movie star has a few shows in development with his production company Runteldat. One show has been picked up by Fox. It will be an animated series about Martin Lawrence’s life growing up in the D.C. area. In addition, Starz has picked up a show about an interracial family based on the comedy of Gary Owen.
Darice Rollins, Runteldat’s director of development, added “We all thought he is hilarious.”
The third show, which hasn’t been picked up yet, is a family comedy set in a funeral home. Source

DJ, rapper, actor and now Chris “Ludacris” Bridges will be branding a new cognac called Conjure. He’ll be working with Birkedal Hartmann, a cognac producer in Norway with hopes of debuting the new brand in the Norway and the US this September.
"I went to Cognac and blended it myself from 14 different samples," Luda explained.
"It's not just me attaching my name to it," he explained. "Whenever I involve myself in a business, I submerge myself in it.
"I wanted to learn as much as possible," Luda continued. "It was great. It gave me a new appreciation for cognac."
The cognac will retail for $34.99. Source

MJ Adds $1 Millon Worth of Crystals to His Tour

MJ’s tour is becoming more and more grand. The latest embellishment is 300,000 Swarovski crystals added to his costumes and stage.
Nadja Swarovski, Vice President of Swarovski Crystal Business, commented: "As the King of Pop it is only natural for him to be crowned in crystal."
President of AEG Live Randy Phillips said: "Since we originally put tickets on sale prior to designing the stage show, we were quite conservative with the arena seating in order to accommodate the size of this technologically advanced production.
"Now that Michael and Kenny are very advanced in the creative process we are able to offer more tickets to the general public." Source

Fantasia Goes Gospel

Fantasia is switching to Gospel. She’s going to include a gospel track on her next album and will do an all gospel album shortly after.
She says, “Church is in me…I’m doing what I was raised up on. Even doing R&B, I’m doing gospel.” In addition to music Fantasia and her family have been taping her new reality show for the last 2 months, which will air VH1 later this year. Source

Al B. Sure Releases First Album in Almost 20 Years

Al B. Sure, released his first studio album in 17 years this past Tuesday. “Honey I’m Home” was released on Hidden Beach Records (a new label for him).
Good for him…I guess.

R. Kelly Involved in Investment Scam?

R. Kelly is in hot water after a woman involved in a scam says that he was in on it. The South African woman accused of scamming more than 50 people out of their money claimed that R. Kelly was part of the plot. She conned the people into investing money in a tour that was never going to happen. She claims that she then deposited the money into Robert’s bank account.
He says she’s nuts. “The woman has no connection at all with R. Kelly. This is just some con woman who swindled a bunch of people out of money. R. Kelly had no knowledge of this, he’s just as upset as anyone.” Source
Yes! That’s preposterous! Who would believe that a man who urinates on little girls could be guilty of such a thing?

Curtis Conway, Laila Ali’s husband, is being sued by his ex-wife for more chld support. His ex, Leoria, thinks she deserves more money since he’s married to a boxing champ and his father-in-law is a boxing legging. She feels that he’s swimming in money now that he’s married into the family, so she wants more. Source

So rumors about Jay-Z having a son have been circulating for YEARS. He’s always denied it, and continued to do so the beginning of the year when the rumor reared its ugly head again. But, as always the rumor got snuffed. Well this time more details are coming out about his supposed child and baby mama. The mother is reportedly a Trini model named Shenelle Scott who lives in a $2.5 million home he purchased. She also brings their son to NY to see his father when she has modeling jobs there and Beyonce has supposedly accepted him as her own. Source
Why he would deny this darling child is beyond me. If this is really his son, how’s lil’ Jay supposed to feel when he is old enough to understand that his father refused to publically claim him?

Kelly had a St. Lucia trip planned but she cancelled for fear she’d run into amy down there.
They reportedly had a falling out when, "Amy rearranged all the furniture and pictures into crazy places, turning chairs over and organising personal objects in her own version of feng shui while Kelly was out.
"She'd even removed some items she ranted were evil. It was the last straw for Kelly, who finally saw how out of control Amy was. She had tried to help her get over her drug problem but finally had enough."
An insider explained: "There was no way Kelly was running the risk of her quiet, relaxing holiday being ruined by Amy's presence." Source
That sucks. I know at one point Kelly was really trying to help Amy out. I guess everyone’s got their limit.

Jill Scott No Longer With Son's Father

Jill Scoot who recently gave birth to a baby boy revealed to Essence.com that she is no longer with her fiancé, drummer Lil’ John
Here’s the interview:



ESSENCE.COM: Congrats on the possibility of an Emmy nod for Best TV Drama Actress! If you win you will be the first African-American woman to do so. Did you expect such acclaim or pressure?
JILL SCOTT: No pressure, but I'm excited. It's definitely something I dreamt about, and if it comes to fruition then that's wonderful. In regards to expecting the acclaim, I wish I was that forward thinking. We were just there doing a good job, and after the show was done we thought, Well, maybe. I am proud of the work that we did.



ESSENCE.COM: Does this Hollywood success mean your music fans won't hear your angelic voice anytime soon?

SCOTT: As much as I take a break, music never gives up on me. I have to write, sing, listen to my iPod, and that inspires me to create. It's a part of me that I don't ever want to go away, no matter what else I do, so I'd say that you can expect a new CD possibly this year, I hope.



ESSENCE.COM: Congrats to you on your new bundle of joy, Jett Hamilton. How has motherhood been treating you?

SCOTT: Wonderful. I named him after a black gemstone that my makeup artist in Africa had; it was simply called Jet, and I fell in love with it and the name because I thought my beautiful baby is a gem. I truly loved being pregnant and feeling what was going on inside my body and watching it change. It's difficult to recoup but still amazing nonetheless. I would have another one.



ESSENCE.COM: Well, at least your hubby-to-be was there to support. How has he been adjusting to Jett?
SCOTT: Yes, he was there and for a couple of days afterwards while I stayed in hospital, but John and I are no longer together. When you have a baby you're dealing with a lot of emotions and I don't know how much of it had to do with us breaking up, but it happens. We definitely love our son and we are co-parenting and working on being friends. It is what it is. I have a lot of support, so I want for nothing as far as that's concerned. I know some might criticize me or the fact that my son is being raised in a single-parent home, but I wasn't raised in a two-parent home and I had a good relationship with my dad. I have hopes for him and I'm sure his father will do his part as well.Source

Money or not, being a single mother is hard. I hope John doesn’t drop the ball with this one…or the three others that he has.

Bey and Solo's Parents are Dunzo?

According to the site destinyschildrumors.com, Tina and Matthew Knowles are dunzo and have been for a while. Here’s a letter a reader sent in.
Hi Soulgirl
My mother is a friend of Tina Knowles. They often go to the same nail/hair salon together and catch up whenever Tina is in town. Tina told my mother that her and Mathew have been separated for at least a year now and are living in different homes even though they have kept their main house.
Tina spends all her time running around after Beyonce and Solange and focusing on the clothing line which has kept her busy through the separation. You won’t see them getting divorced anytime soon and they also remain dedicated to supporting both of their daughters. Mathew’s narrowmindness and lies have seen Tina turn her back on him and his dealings. She will always love Mathew but she can no longer live in his controlling ways. Source
I can believe it. There’s something about Matthew’s control issues that I find a little scary.

Britney's Kind Words About Ed

Britney is mourning the death of Star Search host (among many other things) Ed McMahon who died Tuesday after losing his battle with cancer.
"I am deeply saddened by today's news about Ed McMahon," Spears Tweeted Tuesday."He is responsible for giving so many artists their first shot, including myself," Spears said in her statement. "He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed."
Britney appeared on Star Search when she was just 10-years-old.

Update 76: Chris Brown Arrested

Chris Brown his moving on from RihRih to singer Keri Hilson, but not in the bed. He’s asked her to help out in the studio on his upcoming album.

Keri thinks that his fans will stick with him through his legal ordeal. “It is unfortunate what they are going through, but I always feel like if you’ve ever had a fan base, you’re really only one song away from appeasing that fan base,” she said. “Whether that song is autobiographical or whether you want to talk about that or not, you’re just one hit song away. And that’s what I think of the industry in a nutshell.”
As far as her opinion on the incident she says, “I’m still kind of hoping it’s not true. I’m a face-value person. I won’t believe it until I see it.” Source

Foxy Got the Star Treatment in Jail

According to the NY Post, Foxy Brown got the star treatment while she was locked up for assault at Riker’s Island.
"City prison officials acted like an entourage of fawning valets for rapper Foxy Brown when she was locked up on Rikers Island, hanging out in her cell, bringing meals and makeup, giving her unlimited TV and phone use, and toting her bags when she was released last April," the paper's report read.
Supposedly the proson’s rabbi, Leib Glanz, and his boss Imam Umar Abdul-Jalil, were the ones going to bat for her every time she wanted something.
"Umar would call the warden, and the warden at the time would comply," one insider said.
"They were in her cell day and night," a department supervisor added. "Whatever she wanted, Sister Aisha would talk to warden [Michelle] Mack and get it."
The NY Dept. of Corrections released a statement, saying Foxy's treatment was "within normal guidelines."
"Inmates were entitled to wear their own clothing. That's her choice," Correction spokesman Stephen Morello said. Source
Makes no damn sense. So this is what taxpayers money is going to?

R. Kelly Strikes Out

R. Kelly tried to seduce some chicks into his hotel room at London’s Movida’s belvedere IX recently.
He told the young lady: “Come back with me to my hotel. It’s only seven minutes away. I haven’t invited anybody else back. Well… maybe one or two girls… I want to make you feel good, like you never have before. I’m for real.”
Then he tried to rub her back saying: “Do you like that? It’s pain, but it’s good pain, isn’t it?’” Source

Perez and Will.i.am Scrap

Perez Hilton claims that while attending the 2009 MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Black Eyed Peas member Will.i.am attached him leaving him bleading. Heres what he said about the incident via his Twitter:
- I’m in shock. I need the police ASAP. Please come to the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel now. Please.
- I was assaulted by Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke.
- Still waiting for the police. The bleeding has stopped. I need to document this. Please, can the police come to the SoHo Met Hotel.
- I spoke to my lawyer. I really need to talk to the authorities. Please come to the SoHo Met Hotel. Have called the police. Need them here.
- The Toronto police are here now. Thank you. Please stop calling them.

Baby #2 for Matthew and Camila

Matthew McConaughey and girlfriend Camila Alves are expecting their second child together. Their son Levi is just 11 months old. Matthew announced the news on Sunday, Fathers Day, on his website.
“Happy Father’s Day. It’s my first, and the last 11 months with Levi and Camila have been the most rewarding adventure to date. We have more blessed news to celebrate this Father’s Day that [will] make this time next year double the fun. Levi is going to be a big brother… Yeah, we pulled off the greatest miracle in the world one more time, Camila and I are expecting our second child, bringing more life into the world, making more to live for. The future looks bright as the family grows…. just keep livin, Matthew and Camila.” Source

Usher Talks About His Divorce

Usher has finally spoken out about his divorce to man-bride, Tameka Foster. He told Entertainment Weekly, “I’d hate for [people] to assume that. If there’s any turmoil, I think it’s managing all of it, but having an incredible team that helps me do that it makes it very easy, or easier than it would normally be attempting to do it myself.” Adding, “What I do is, I try to get [my work] done and get home on the weekends if possible … but when I’m with my boys it’s just all about them.”
Sources have also said that the marriage has always been doomed. “They peaked before they even got married. Right after it was over, they started to drift apart. [Usher] just wasn’t ready to settle down, at least not with her”. Apparently, Tameka was “alienating and controlling, and he was unhappy”.

Letoya's Fans Want Her on the BET Awards

As many of you know, Matthew Knowles told BET that if they allowed Letoya Luckett to perform on their awards show that he’d pull Beyonce as an act. Letoya has been pulled and she recently addressed the drama in an interview with WPGC’s DJ Flexx
Dj Flexx:”Let’s just say that it’s true, how does it make you feel that Matthew would go so hard at you to get you off the show?”
LeToya: “It saddens me a little. Because our situation happened close to 10 years ago, and I think as we all know Bey is a very, very, very talented artist, and I think that we both have our own lanes and fan base, and I don’t see why I would have to be one of the ones picked out of the entire crew of females that will be hitting the stage that night. I don’t know… I’m gonna try and word this right… I just don’t understand why I’m picked outta that group because there are so many other female artists performin’ that night and I think we all deserve to have a chance at that stage. Everybody works hard and we all have something different to offer, from Keyshia to Keri to Bey, everybody is different in their own ways so it saddens me if that’s true, and I hope that’s not the case but I’ll be there regardless”. Brangelina's Kids are Party Planners

Angie and Brad have to celebrate so many birthdays a year (being that they have six kids) that they let the little ones plan their own parties.
She says, "We have so many kids that we just have year-round birthdays. We just have it rotating. "It's a lot of fun now 'cause the older kids are old enough to help plan the birthdays for the younger kids." Source
Them kids don’t need parties. Their birthday present each year should be having parents richer than God who let them have their run of a French chateau.

Aunt Viv Writes a Tell-All

Supposedly there is a darker side to Will Smith according to former co-star Janet Huber (aka the first Aunt Viv from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air). Janet has written a tell all book called Perfection is Not a Sitcome Mom, where she says that Will would "sabotage" any actor who "outshone him." She also talks more aobut her quick departure from the show.
On her website, she explains that "I chronicle the sudden change of [Vivian's] character like a CSI episode, detailing the plot, the murder, the funeral and the trial, with actual deposition material taken by a team of nine attorneys," which sounds a little nutty to us.
Will said back in ’93, "I can say straight up that Janet wanted the show to be 'The Aunt Viv of Bel-Air' show. She's mad now, but she's been mad all along. She said once, 'I've been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.' No matter what, to her I'm just the Antichrist."
Hmm, I’ve never heard that quote from Will before but it has a tinge of Nasty in it. I personally believe that most funnymen have a dark side so this revelation from Janet isn’t that hard to believe. Trust I’ll be perusing her book in the Barnes and Noble Starbucks café when it comes out.

Ricky Martin Takes a Step out of the Closet

Ricky Martin sorta came out of the closet but not really. He recently adopted twin boys whom he is raising alone. He received criticism from a Catholic Cardinal who said that “You can’t just buy or rent life.” There was also more speculation as to what his orientation was but he didn’t address the issue.
However, he was recently interviews in a Spanish-language TV magazine saying his “heart could belong to a man or a woman” Source via Source
I don’t care what Ricky is personally. I can’t even speculate because my gaydar is strictly American. Things get hazy when it comes to Latinos and Brits so I try to stay out fo the speculation. In any event I hope whomever he’s shaking his bonbon with is good for the twins.

Morgan Having an Affair with his Step-Granddaughter?!!

Details of Morgan Freemans divorce are coming out and it’s no wonder why he wanted them to remain private. Word is that the real reason his wife wants to call it quits is because he’s been having an affair with his 27-year-old step-grand daughter since she was a teen.
Morgan’s wife Myrna raised her granddaughter E’Dena Hines and Morgan has apparently been sleeping with her since she was 17.
"Myrna said E'dena told her that when she was a teenager, she and Morgan went to dinner at a friend's house one evening. Both had been drinking, and when they returned home, Morgan attempted to have sex with her. They stopped just short of having intercourse," the source revealed. "E'Dena explained to Myrna that she stopped Morgan from going any further."
Morgan said he’d leave her alone after he was confronted by his wife but he’s maintained a close relationship with the young woman for years and even brought her to several events.
"Nobody thought anything of it, because she would be introduced as his 'granddaughter,'" The family insider said. "It's not technically incest, because they are not related by blood...[but] Morgan is trying desperately to keep his divorce out of open court so all the shameful facts won't become public."
Um, this is totally disgusting to me. I know they’re not blood but when this whole thing started she was just a young girl and he’s an old ass man. Ilk!

According to News of the World, Amy has applied to become a permanent resident.
"Amy loves St Lucia and never wants to leave. She thinks the island has done her the world of good and she's writing more than ever," said one insider.
A St Lucian official is reported to have said that he was "aware of Amy wanting to live here on a permanent basis" and that her application was currently being considered.
However, a former government adviser urged officials to deny her residency status on the basis that she was a "dangerous influence" on the country's youth. Source
